Purpose: For patrons to create three-dimensional, plastic objects. Informatics staff will print the object after an electronic design has been submitted in the correct format.

Equipment: Prusa i3 Mk3s

Location: Lower Level Irene Clerico Maker Space

Users: Students, faculty, staff, and community members

Cost: $0.10/gram but a service fee may be added if excessive intervention by staff is needed to set it up

Avaliablity: Usually Monday through Friday from 9-3pm, outside of scheduled chapel times. Jobs will be submitted to the Informatics department.

Usage Policies and Restrictions:

1. Patron needs to complete three steps:
1. Complete a request form
2. Submit a file via email to printing(at)bennerlibrary(dot)com or submit a thingiverse url. Submitted file types must be one of the following: .stl, .obj, or .thing file type.
3. Pay for project and verify size and color in person during available during lower level library hours. After the above steps are completed, Informatics staff will print the project. Please note that 3D printing is a long process and there may be other jobs in front of you, so it may take up to 2 weeks to receive your completed 3D project.
2. An email notification will be sent upon project completion from printing(at)bennerlibrary(dot)com. Projects can be picked up at the informatics office anytime up to one hour before the library closes.
3. Two weeks after initial notification, if there is no communication from the patron, the project will be considered a donation to the library.
4. First priority will be given to Olivet Nazarene University students working on academic projects.
5. Benner Library Staff reserves the right to refuse a print request at any time.
6. Please keep content “Olivet appropriate.”
7. The requester of each project is responsible for adhering to copyright laws and regulations.
8. Our technology may not be used to create material that is prohibited by local, state, or federal law. Additionally materials deemed unsafe harmful, or dangerous will not be printed.

Disclaimers:

• Users are responsible for creating their own 3D models. Library staff may perform trivial repairs using automated software processes (checking for duplicate edges, unfilled holes, size checking, etc.), but cannot and will not assist in creating or editing designs.
• Some objects (such as those with steep overhangs) require temporary support material to be printed. This material is easily removable; the user will be completely responsible for removing this material -- library staff will NOT remove support material or be held responsible for damage incurred during this process.
• Items printed on the Prusa i3 Mk3s may have small surface defects such as bumps or holes. These routine defects will not be cause for refund or lack of payment for the object. Also note that while the Mk3s is very accurate, we will not guarantee any precise tolerances on fitting of multi-part objects.
• Informatics reserves the right to refuse a project due to time limitations or your project may have to be broken down into smaller segments which will increase the cost of the project.

Usage tips:

1. Use Cura software to customize or project size of your project.
2. Thingiverse is a great source of already completed projects. Be sure to check your file carefully before submitting. Just because it is on Thingiverse does not mean there may not be mistakes, especially in sizing and adequate supports.
